Global Research & Development Center
Research and development at the highest level
At our Global Research & Development Center in Bielefeld, we develop new processes and innovative methods in the field of forming technology in general and deep-drawing technology in particular for the entire Euscher Group.
Whether highly individual customer requirements or complex projects as part of government-funded research programs: With our experienced team under the leadership of Dr. Eugen Stockburger and in close cooperation with scientific institutes for industrial research, we completely rethink processes, develop solutions outside the standard and set new ideas that further develop traditional deep drawing in an innovative way.
Our goals are challenging, but can be defined simply: We want to produce better, more precisely, faster, more efficiently and more sustainably for our customers. To achieve this, we use our very own formula for success, which is unique: Maximum optimized processes based on valid data and our own research projects as well as our practical experience from over 100 years of deep drawing.
Do you have an idea?
We find a solution. Together.

Modern process technology: from the Bielefeld research laboratory out into the world
At our headquarters in Bielefeld, East Westphalia, deep-drawing experts, designers, experienced tool mechanics, analysts and researchers meet state-of-the-art laboratory, sensor and measurement technology. This enables us, for example, to carry out both standardized and individual material tests with complex analyses, to improve the accuracy of simulation technology and to develop new production processes for our sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, China and the USA.
Thanks to the results of our research into process-relevant factors such as materials, auxiliary and operating materials, potential errors can be identified in advance. On this basis, processes are adapted accordingly, production times are shortened and resources are used optimally.
At the same time, the Euscher Global Research & Development Center is constantly developing new ideas on how modern thermoforming [SE1] technology can replace other production processes, enabling parts to be manufactured faster, more cost-effectively and more sustainable – or our experts find out what optimization potential lies in subsequent processes and how this can be used to generate an ideal distribution of resources.

Research & Development „made in Germany“
We are also able to supply complete systems – from forming machines and oiling systems to deep-drawing tools and spare parts. To this end, the Global Research & Development Center naturally works hand in hand with our design department and our toolmaking department, all of which are also based at our main site in Germany.
The equipment in our research laboratory includes a tensile testing machine, a microscope for metallographic analyses, an X-ray spectrometer, modern camera systems, a thermographic camera, sensor technology and an industrial 3D printer for fiber-reinforced plastic, which can print tool elements, measuring technology holders or samples, for example. For even more specialized analyses using highly specific technology such as a scanning electron microscope, we work together with renowned laboratories.
The use of artificial intelligence for processes in forming technology is also evaluated in detail by our team in terms of applicability and benefits – if the results are positive, this is followed by integration into existing processes, which we have already successfully implemented in some areas.

Joint research with scientific institutes and universities
Our Global Research & Development Center is headed by Dr. Eugen Stockburger, who wrote his dissertation at the Institute of Forming Technology and Forming Machines entitled “Experimental and numerical investigations into the form hardening of martensitic chromium steel”.
Personally connected with science and research, he and his team are particularly keen to share their own expertise in the form of specialist lectures and to support external research projects.
In the course of this, we support projects in the project support committee, e.g. at the University of Paderborn, are a member of the “Sheet Metal Forming Industry Association” (Industrieverband Blechumformung) and are in constant contact with the “Industrial collective research”, for which Dr. Stockburger is also an honorary reviewer for research applications.
Research & Development – Projects
Through the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, we were able to prevail against over 130 other submissions with our proposal “Process development for the production of complex functional elements on sheet metal components using sheet metal forming” as part of the “Future of value creation / SME innovative” funding project together with 19 other applications. Further research projects are currently being planned.
The team also supervises Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in collaboration with students from regional universities and universities of applied sciences.
